He
has travelled widely as leader or member of many important Indian
delegations to foreign countries and represented India at various
international forums with distinction. He was President of the Indian
National Committee of International Chamber of Commerce and led the
Indian Delegation to attend the 28th Congress of International Chamber
of Commerce held in Stockholm in June 1984. He has been actively
connected with financial institutions in various capacities. He was
also a Director of Pradeshiya Industrial and Investment Corporation of
U.P. Ltd. (PICUP) and U.P. State Industrial Development Corporation for
a very long period.
He is held in
high esteem in business and financial circles. In industrial relations,
he has achieved outstanding success. Kanoria Chemicals & Industries
Ltd. (KCI) of which he was the Chairman, won the prestigious Industrial
Relations Award of 1974 presented by the then Prime Minister of India
for its remarkable achievement of uninterrupted industrial peace,
without loss of a single manday since commencement of production in
1964. This impressive record is being maintained and over thirty years
of uninterrupted industrial peace has been achieved.
He
has served on a number of Central Government Councils and Committees,
including the Central Advisory Council of Industries, Board of Trade,
Direct Taxes Central Advisory Committee, Capital Issues Control
Advisory Committee, Development Council for Inorganic Chemical
Industries, Jute Manufactures Development (JMDC), etc.
Mr
Kanoria's interests are by no means confined to business. Besides being
a keen sportsman and sport enthusiast, he is actively associated with a
number of educational, social and cultural organisations. He was the
Founder President of Anamika Kala Sangam and the President of Rotary
Club of Calcutta in the year 1982 - 83. He was the Founder President of
Manovikas Kendra Rehabilitation and Research Institute for the
Handicapped.
